Coaching, Consulting, Document Preparation and Filing
If you are facing an uncontested divorce (there are no disagreements between you and your spouse or partner about division of assets, property or child/spousal support), you may choose to prepare and file all of the necessary documents yourself to obtain a legal divorce in the state of California.
If you are planning to prepare and file your divorce documents yourself, and you would like to make sure that they are properly filled out and ready to file, Divorce Helpline attorneys can review them and make any recommendations to keep them from being rejected by the court. For a fee, we are also available to answer questions and give you legal and practical advice in person or over the phone to support you in the DIY divorce process.
Once a petition is filed with the court, your Judgment of Dissolution will be granted either by default or by a settlement agreement filed with the court. You can learn more about these types of uncontested divorce by reading our FAQs. You can still file your documents yourself in a contested divorce, but in that case, you must have a settlement agreement or the court will decide any unresolved issues.
Divorce Helpline can offer you the greatest level of privacy and expediency in a divorce proceeding through our Private Judge service. If you have questions or you are frustrated with the litigation process, contact us today at 1-800-359-7004 to find out how we can help.
